About the role

It is an exciting time to join the Kadans business in the UK.  We have a strong development pipeline of properties in development as well as a properties already completed and operationally active. 

The purpose of the team is to deliver best in class, transparent and cost-effective property management solutions to the Kadans business and our tenants.  

We have recently hired a new Head of Property to spearhead the expansion of our UK  based property management team, including the mobalistation of our Innovation Centre at 20 Water Street in Canary Wharf and properties in Kings Cross, London. 

20 Water Street - Our Innovation Centre   

Water Street Innovation Centre provides opportunities for early-stage science companies to gather, create and innovate in Canary Wharf’s thriving ecosystem. 

The Innovation Centre will provide flexible, fully serviced CL2 wet-labs which can range in size from 200 sq ft to 5,000+ sq ft as well as office accommodation, ancillary meeting rooms and breakout space.  

The Innovation Centre benefits from access to shared equipment facilities including autoclaves, glass wash, -80 free standing freezer and on-floor LN2 storage as well as an in-house Lab Technician to support your growth.

Responsibilities 

The post holder will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to: 

  • Supporting our tenants across the Innovation Centre with a range of tasks to allow the smooth operations of their laboratories 
  • Liaising with the tenants to monitor health and safety in the laboratories  
  • Monitoring the BMS system and actioning any relevant works  
  • Collecting and distributing lab deliveries – e.g clinical or time sensitive deliveries  
  • Manage both goods in and out of the Innovation Centre, working with the building management team at Canary Wharf Group 
  • Laboratory maintenance: Maintain gases, LN2 rooms and support centralised laboratory activities  
  • Equipment: Liaising with service engineers, update systems with service reports as required, involved in the building management system 
  • Supporting the tenants on disposal of hazardous waste  
  • Assist tenants with LN2 delivery and installations, where required 
  • Working with the tenants to develop standard operating procedures for activities in/outside the laboratories  
  • Conduct monthly/quarterly meetings with tenants to ensure all laboratory needs are being met across the building 
  • Working with the front of house and other property management colleagues in responding to and grading any facilities management activities  
  • Support the wider Kadans Science Partner team on additional laboratory buildings and operations  

Key skills and qualifications 

  • BSc in a biological sciences subject (or equivalent) 
  • Experience in laboratory management 
  • You must be able to work independently and be willing to travel nationally  
  • Enjoy and buoyed by working in a collaborative team environment   
  • Highly motivated and ambitious  
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Personable: Be comfortable in owning & maintaining relationships  
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
